Resources

What can you do on this screen?

Resources are all the things you use to support the delivery of a learning event. We recommend that you include those resources that the instructor or facilitator needs to deliver the learning event and whose costs you want or need to track. Resources are used or cited extensively in initiatives, specifically, on the following screens:

Analysis - in the Training Needs Analysis and the Task Analysis.

Design - in the Training Management Document.

Develop - in the initiative contents: pages and paragraphs, sheets, and test items.

On the Resources screens you can create and manage the following types of resources:

Consumables - any type of resource that is used up during the delivery of a learning event, e.g., flip chart paper and pens.

IETMs - Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals that you can link to a specific node (or table of contents entry) and launch directly to that specific node during a learning event.

IMM - Instructional Media Material are all types of media that can be used in a learning event, including Microsoft® PowerPoint® slides, graphics, animations, simulations, videos, and models (whether electronic or physical).

Publications - including instructions, manuals, books, articles, websites, and other published materials.

Software - that is needed to deliver or that is used during the learning events, whether used by the instructor, facilitator, or the participant.

Tool/Equipment - includes all tools or equipment that used during the learning event, including hand tools, power tools, computers, maintenance trainers, and all other kinds of training equipment.

You can set up the resource sub-categories on the Customizations screens, to enable you to define groups of resources within the main categories.

Approving a Resource

Select the resource, then select View Table-View. Review the information, then select Approve.

Note: Resources are automatically approved when the initiative that cites/uses the resources is approved.

Viewing Versions of Resources

Select the arrow VersionArrow at the start of the listed resources to show the previous versions of the resource.

Creating a New Version of an Approved Resource

Before creating a new version, run the Related Materials Report to check the impact the new version has on all initiatives (select the resource and then Preview Preview-Blue). This will let you know exactly where the resource is currently in use/cited.

To version an approved resource, select it in the list, then select Create New Version NewVersion-Blue. Make changes to the details (and upload the latest IETM extraction file or associated file for IETMs and IMM resources) and Save them.

You can update Update to the latest version of a resource in your initiative on the:

TNA/TMD > Training Data > Resources screen, for resources listed in the TNA or TMD respectively. This will update the resource to the latest version in your initiative.

Resource Management screen on the Analysis/Design tabs under the Initiative Management folder, for any resource cited or used anywhere in your initiative. This will update the resource to the latest version in your initiative.

Cited Resources screen for any resources that are cited anywhere below the selected table of contents item on the Develop tab. This will update the resource to the latest version only in the selected table of contents item or anywhere below it in the tree structure.

Select the resource to update on your selected screen. Then select Update Update above the list to update to the latest version of the resource. Any flags will change from New Version flags Flag-Yellow to System flags Flag-Red to help you find the places to check for possible updates to the content.
